The Film
Based on the novel by Erich Kästner, starring Tom Schilling, Albrecht Schuch, and Saskia Rosendahl. Screened in competition at the 71st Berlinale in 2021, it won the Silver Deutscher Filmpreis out of ten nominations and was released in Italian cinemas in 2022, distributed by PFA Films.
The Locations
The historic center of Görlitz was transformed into Weimar Republic-era Berlin, complete with nightclubs, literary cafés, and streets of the 1920s and 1930s: the Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) façades and inner courtyards masterfully recreated the decadent and vital atmosphere of the capital prior to the rise of National Socialism.
