The Film

Ralph Fiennes portrays concierge Gustave H. in a Central European hotel between the world wars. The production garnered nine nominations at the 2015 Academy Awards, securing four wins (Production Design, Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Original Score). With a global box office gross exceeding $174 million, it remains the most commercially successful film in Wes Anderson’s career.

The Locations

The Görlitzer Warenhaus, a historic and vacant Jugendstil department store, served as the primary location for nearly all interior scenes. The landmark Art Nouveau atrium was meticulously transformed into the grand lobby of the fictional hotel, while various other architectural vistas across the city of Görlitz feature prominently in the exterior sequences.
