The Film

Ralph Fiennes stars as the concierge Gustave H. in a mid-century Central European hotel between the wars. The production garnered nine Academy Award nominations in 2015, securing four wins (Production Design, Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Original Score). With a global box office gross exceeding 174 million dollars, it remains the most commercially successful film in Wes Anderson’s career.

The Locations

The Görlitzer Warenhaus, a historic and abandoned Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) department store, served as the primary setting for nearly all the film's interior scenes. The property's majestic Liberty-style atrium was meticulously transformed into the sumptuous lobby of the fictional hotel, while the historic streetscapes of Görlitz feature prominently in the exterior sequences.
